Ordering Information

All the part numbers in the catalogue refers to fullyassembled fittings.
For alternatives the followings apply.

For body only
If the fitting body only is required, affix "X" to the part number,
e.g. XMC20S3/4R-S316 ( male connector, 20S, 3/4"BSPT thread, S316, body only )

For Fitting without nut and ring only
If fittings which normally consists of many parts, but without tube nut and ring, affix "X" to the part number,
e.g. XWH20S3/4G-S316 ( Banjo Elbow, 20S, 3/ 4"BSPP thread, S316, all parts included without tube nut and ring only)

For Stainless Steel and Steel Fitting
For steel fittings suffix STEL and for stainless steel suffix S316.

For Sealing Material
NBR (Buna-N) is the standard sealing material for powerlok Hydraulic Tube Fittings, but if other sealing material is required, suffix for FPM(Viton).
Materials other than the above are available on request.

Pressure and Temperature

Pressure Load Capability
Definition of pressure specified in the catalogue:

  1. Nominal pressure PN
Nominal pressure as referred to in DIN2401, part1
  2. Working pressure PB
The permissible working pressure for a component is based on the material and the operation temperature(TB) during trouble-free operation.

Permissible operating temperature (TB)

For fitting material:

  • Steel : -40℃ ~ 120℃ (-40℉ ~ 250℉)(DIN3859)
  • Stainless Steel : -60℃ ~ 400℃ (-75℉ ~ 750℉)(DIN 17 440, AD W 10)
The specifications in the Pressure Reduction section are to be observed here.

For Sealing Material

NBR (Perbunan®) : -35℃ ~ 100℃ (-30℉ ~ 212℉)
FPM (Viton®) : -25℃ ~ 200℃ (-15℉ ~ 400℉)
PTFE (Teflon®) : -60℃ ~ 120℃ (-75℉ ~ 400℉)
Perbunan = registered trade mark of Bayer
Viton & Teflon = registered trade marks of DuPont.

The temperature limits specified for sealing materi
-als are approximate values as the temperature limits can be influenced by the medium.

Pressure Reduction
Recommendable pressure reductions which are determined by the medium for higher temperature services.

If the tube materials used deviate from the fitting material, tube is to be checked separately with regard to the permissible temperature range and the possible reductions required. Male connectors may require additional pressure reductions due to material of mating port and the sealing system must be taken into account. For male connectors with cutting face, additional sealants may be required.

The nominal pressure PN and working pressure PB represent the maximum permissible operating pressure peaks for which the temperature limits
and pressure reductions listed in the above tables must be taken into account.

Operational design factor at static load is 4x.

The pressure and safety specifications are based on all assemblies being in accordance to powerlok instructions.

It is also assumed that the tube routing will be laid and clamped in such a fashion that no additional stress, load or tension may act on the fittings. Tube fixtures are to be laid with sufficient stability according to the operating conditions and connected with supports.

Assembly Instruction
For proper assembly following assembly instruction shall be followed. Improper assembly may lead to malfunctions or impair safety.

Assembly in fitting body

Preparation of Tube & Fitting Parts
1. Saw off tube square.
1/2° angle tolerance to the tube axis is permissible. Tube cutter is not recommendable.

2. Lightly remove chips and particles from the inside and outside cut edges of tube.
Bevel up to 0.2mm x 45° is permissible.

3. For tube bend, the minimum height from the straight pipe end to the bending radius must be at least twice the height of the nut.

4. Lubricate thread and cone of the fitting body, ring and thread of nut.

Assembly

5.Slip nut and then ring onto the tube end. Ensure that the ring is placed correctly.

6. Screw nut manually on to fitting body until finger tight. Hold the tube against the shoulder in the cone of the fitting body.

7. Mark nut and tube for measuring the prescribed turns of the nut.

8. Tighten the nut 1 1/2 turns. Tube must not turn with tube. Stop edge of the ring limits over-tightening by increasing tightening torque.

Check & Final Assembly

9. Loosen nut and remove ring-mounted tube from fitting. And check if a visible collar has formed on the pipe in front of the first cutting edge. If not, tighten slightly more.

10. Insert the pre-assembled tube into the fitting.
While holding fitting body with a wrench, tighten nut approx. 1/2 revolution beyond the point of a clearly perceptible resistance.
